Welcome to the collection of the best new Android applications that have been published on the Play Store or that have been identified by us in the previous week or so. Today I have a new VPN from Firefox, the Google version of the Socratic homework assistant and an early access note app that offers a design similar to Keep. So, without further ado, here are the most important Android apps released in the last two weeks.

Featured app
Sotka
SOTKA is the first ‘edufitness’ app to land on the Play Store which was specifically developed to offer a minimalist approach to training. A gym membership is no longer needed to get the best workout possible since all you need is this app, your body and some space. Gravity will be the source of your resistance, and therefore your body weight will be the most useful tool in your arsenal, thanks to SOTKA’s “less is better” approach.
SOTKA guides its users on their training path in a fairly competent way, so even if you can perform only one pushup, 20-30 minutes of exercise per day will exercise the results without the headache of a gym.
By following the app’s 100-day educational course, you won’t have to worry about unnecessary shortcuts. Only information proven by scientific sources is included, covering knowledge in the areas of fitness, nutrition, personal development, motivation and self-management. Above all, this is a bold design created by the founder of Street Workout – Anton Kuchumov, and has already helped more than 350,000 people from all over the world, which is why AP is proud to present SOTKA as sponsor of our app roundup this week.

Firefox private network VPN
Android police coverage: Firefox releases the Android app for its VPN service
Firefox Private Network VPN has just arrived on the Play Store, but for now the VPN service is still in beta, so while the app is available, the service is accessible only to those in the closed beta. This limited availability indicates that the VPN is listed at a discounted rate for beta users, reaching $ 4.99 per month. Of course, this may not reflect the app’s release price, so the price may change once the service leaves beta, which is worth keeping in mind.

PotatoNotes
Android police coverage: The best free and open source alternatives to Google Keep on Android
PotatoNotes is an early access note app recently listed in Corbin’s Google Keep Alternatives article, and for good reason. The app offers a design very similar to Keep, which should allow Keep users to switch to PotatoNotes without too much trouble. Of course, if you are looking for original features, you will probably get a kick out of customizing the app’s theme, which is one of its many features that sets this version above the competition.

Opera News Lite – Less data, more news
Opera News Lite is the latest mobile app from the Opera team and is a news reader. With the current trend of fake news, it would seem that every technology company is rushing to create its own news aggregator and Opera is no different. Of course, it might be a good idea to ask yourself why so many companies want to check the apps that allow you to read the news, but I suppose this only depends on which companies you trust and which ones you don’t like.

Creator Studio
Creator Studio is a new version of Facebook designed to offer all the tools that someone would need to analyze and monetize their Facebook videos. This means that you can view published, edited and scheduled posts, all from the comfort of your phone. You will also have the option to edit the video titles and their descriptions and you can even publish on a custom program, in case you have a specific time when a video has to go up.

IoT assistant
The IoT Assistant comes from Carnegie Mellon University, which is located near my territory, so this version is a little closer to home than many others. Basically, this is a security app designed to help you find out and control what personal data is collected by IoT resources around you. In this way, you will know who is receiving this information, with whom it is shared and how long it is kept, which is a really good tool. Honestly, it is comforting to know that there are still some universities out there that are actually interested in providing free security tools to the public, especially when they are in my hometown.

T-Mobile SyncUP PETS is a pet tracking tool that can send notifications when a pet leaves their home, as long as your pet is wearing a locator. Election Meme Maker
I think it is quite clear at this point that the American elections are the perfect opportunities to create some evil memes. With this in mind, Election Meme Maker is a new app designed to add captions to images, ideally for creating political themed memes. So if you want to create the next meme that could very well change the course of American history, just like Pepe, then Election Meme Maker is the app for you.

Almighty Volume Keys is the latest volume key remapper to arrive on the Play Store. Just like any other app of this nature, you can remap the volume keys to launch a plethora of different apps. You can even program keys to turn on the flashlight, record audio, or turn off radios. The sky is the limit that it would seem, although you will have to pay $ 2.49 through an in-app purchase if you want to unlock all the features of this version.

One Shade: personalized notifications and quick settings
One Shade is an app that can replace the drop-down menu of notifications with something that’s much easier to customize. This means that you will be able to completely customize the color of the One Shade drop-down menu, as well as take advantage of advanced notifications. Heck, you can also set a custom background image, if you wish, which really complements it as one of the best notification shadow substitutions. Obviously, most of the app’s features come at a cost, so be prepared to shell out some money through IAPs if you want to get the most out of this version.

SayCheeze – Remote camera
SayCheeze is a remote camera app that has just entered early access and can connect to a second Android device to act as a remote control for its camera. So say that you and a friend of yours are traveling around the city, and you would both like to take a photo together which is not a selfie. Weather Assistant by ClimaCell
ClimaCell’s Weather Assistant offers global hyperprecise local forecasts and its forecasts are used by the aviation industry to give you an idea of its accuracy. The layout of the app is easy to navigate and is very intuitive, although it is a more recent version, some features are missing, such as support for notifications on the status bar. Fortunately, the developer is working hard to complete the app, and so widgets and a dark mode have just arrived in Weather Assistant in the past few days.
monetization: Free / No Ads / IAP from $ 2.99 – $ 19.99
Bulldog Blocker – Porn Filter and App Blocker
Bulldog Blocker is a simple app with an integrated Internet filter that blocks pornographic websites and whatever apps you choose. Ideally, this is something you would install on a child’s phone, even if the app isn’t free, so you’ll need to pay a monthly subscription fee after the app’s 14-day free trial.
monetization: Free / No Ads / IAP from $ 4.99 – $ 38.99
Vimeo Create – Video Maker & Editor
Vimeo Create – Video Maker & Editor has just entered a beta testing phase, although it appears that the release is regional, so it is not currently available in the United States. In particular, the video editor contains in-app purchases that for some reason go up to $ 400, which is the current limit of the Play Store, so it could be for the purchase of a business plan, but then again that business plan normally costs $ 600, so until Vimeo actually releases this app in the U.S., I guess we’ll just have to guess what a $ 400 purchase might cover.
monetization: Free / Ad-Free / IAP from $ 24.99 to $ 399.99
