A list from inside the Chinese administration shows that Muslims in China are punished for everyday conduct in their private lives. The document was leaked to reporters from NDR, WDR, Deutscher Welle and “Süddeutscher Zeitung”. The list shows the apparent trivialities for which people were interned, sometimes for years: for example, because they wore headscarves or beards, made pilgrimages or went abroad. Possession of religious books is also listed as a reason for detention.
