The agreement was signed on Tuesday in a spectacle of the aerospace industry in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai.

The plans for the association describe the combination of two technologies: magnetic levitation to eliminate soil friction and vacuum tubes to reduce air resistance – to create a "hypersonic" transport mode, Geely said in a statement.

CASIC is working on a system that can transport trains at a maximum speed of 1,000 kph (620 miles per hour) and study technologies that could fire at 4,000 km / h in the future.

Geely and CASIC "will group their capacities," said the statement, but did not give details about their investment in the joint effort or within a period.

"Technologies developed through supersonic trains will help Geely Holding move forward in the fields of new energy vehicles, automotive safety and the science of new materials," said the statement.
