Julian Fellowes‘ Downton Abbey the film is currently in theaters, but that doesn’t mean you’re taking a break. His next drama series period, The Gilded Age, is gaining steam with casting.
It has recently been announced that we can search Sex and the City alum Cynthia Nixon is The Good Fight‘S Christina Baranski to take the initiative. Expert actresses will be joined by Amanda Peet (Brockmire) is Morgan Spector (Patria), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 10-part series, directed to HBO, is set in New York City in the 1880s. The story revolves around an orphan girl named Marion Brook, who goes to live with her aunts, played by Nixon and Baranski. Baranski plays Agnes, an aristocrat who married well. Her sister, Ada (Nixon), did not plan the future and relies on Agnes for financial support.
Peet will play Bertha Russell, who comes from a middle class. Spector will play her husband, George, the son of a merchant family, who turns out to be a financial genius.
Last year, Fellowes said in a statement that making this series is “the realization of a personal dream”. We talked about it for the first time seven years ago, we are happy to see it materialize.
There is no mention of a preview date, but it seems that we are approaching …
NINTENDO SWITCH LITE – Announced during the previous Nintendo Direct, the SNES controller is now on sale on the manufacturer’s official website.
[Mis à jour le 30 septembre 2019 à 17h30] The release of the SNES controller adapted to the Switch was announced on September 5, 2019 during Nintendo Direct. This controller is now available. However, you must be subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online to purchase this wireless controller. Its price is € 29.99 (excluding shipping costs which amount to € 6.99 for France). It goes without saying that the controller is only compatible with softs requiring only the directional buttons and classic keys to operate, since there is no stick or motion detector. As a reminder, twenty SNES games are already available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
Should we buy the Nintendo Switch Lite?
Friday September 20, 2019 sees the release of the Switch Lite, this refined version of the Nintendo Switch, and dedicated only to portable gaming. And for portable gaming, the first thing that counts is the battery life. Is it convincing? We have to believe that yes since Nintendo announces more than an hour of additional autonomy compared to the basic model. But it seems to be equivalent to the “corrective” model of the Nintendo Switch available since the end of August. If the gain in autonomy varies according to the games, allowing between 4 and 9 hours of intensive play, it is however perfectly the case for a portable console which will be released less often than a 3DS, but which will be just as easy to carry in your pocket. You will soon fall for this model if you are a mobile gamer who does not yet have the original Switch.
The “new” console separates itself from a good number of functions of its big sister, which are for some dispensable, like vibrations or motion detection. Anyway, no more removable controller, so more possibility to play games based on motion detection. As it stands, the Switch Lite is personal. Used as a 3DS, in complete privacy, without letting go. Nintendo has tried to catch up with the possibility of adding additional Joy-Con to find the possibility of playing with others, but the lack of support crutch hurts, making the friendly games of Mario Kart difficult. Thus, if you already own a Nintendo Switch, the need to get a Switch Lite is much less, since you will only double a console with fewer possibilities in the end.
The lack of TV connectors also explains the reduction in the size of the packaging, which is resolutely more compact than its predecessor, since the dock of the previous version cannot be found there. On the other hand, it shines by its weight, minimalist as possible and stripped of all superfluous. Thus, we get a smaller, lighter console (91.1x208x13.9mm for 275g against 102x239x13.9mm for 398g for the original Switch). To achieve such a reduction, the size of the touch screen was drastically reduced, but Nintendo managed to keep the same resolution 1280×720, which gives the image of the Switch Lite a smoother appearance. In the end, we are really getting closer to a portable console thanks to a reduced size, which is essential since the 3DS is at the end of the race, and Nintendo joins its competitors on the concept of maintaining only one console at a time. So, if you were looking for a portable console for this end of the year, the Switch Lite is made for you, and is already available at a price of 199 €.
RingFit Adventure, the new Fitness game from Nintendo
The new Nintendo “experience” was unveiled this September 12 and relates to the field of Fitness: RingFit Adventure. The principle of the game is much better thought out than Wii-Fit, since this time Nintendo offers us a complete and classic adventure in terms of video games. Several levels are thus proposed, and you will have to carry out Fitness exercises to be able to overcome it. Everything is thought so that the fitness exercises evolve gradually and adapt to your level.
There are several game modes, ranging from adventure, presented in length, to mini-games for several, to simple fitness exercises. Everything is designed to encourage people to practice regular physical activity, and Nintendo is here positioning itself very intelligently, in an area that only they can effectively touch. The game and accessories will be available on October 18 for € 79.99.
Nintendo Direct on September 5 was an opportunity for Nintendo to announce a large number of new features to come on its hybrid console. If there was no mention of the Switch Lite, there is plenty to do with the number of games presented during these 40 minutes. After a presentation of two games already announced, Overwatch and Luigi’s Mansion 3, Nintendo presented us Super Kirby Clash, a game of questing and massacre of monsters by team of 4. A hundred quests are planned and we will have to cooperate effectively for them achieve. The game, for free download, is already available.
Then, we got a remaster of Trials of Mana, finally bringing up to date the third game of the Mana saga, with gameplay revisited for our time, with a 3D environment and the possibility of using this third dimension to jump and rotate. The game should be released on April 24, 2020 (and we are awaiting the remake of Sword of Mana now).
Game Freak, the developers of Pokémon, have developed a brand new game whose gameplay seems very original. Indeed, in Little Town Hero, you play a young boy who must defend the village, not with weapons but with “ideas”. The game seems to offer you the choice between several actions that you would have to combine to defeat your opponents. The game will be released on October 16, 2019.
Following this, some announcements were made for Super Smash bros Ultimate, with the expected arrival of Banjo and Kazooie, but also the announcement of the following character: Terry Bogard, from Fatal Fury, a game by Neo- Geo published by SNK. Many other characters are also said to be in development and are expected to be released next year.
Nintendo then quickly moved onto Zelda Link’s Awakening, without going into more detail than during previous conferences. Dragon Quest XI S however had the right to a little more content, especially on the principle of alternating between several graphics, 2D and 3D. The game will be available on September 27, but the demo is already available.
Bethesda meanwhile still does not know how to make new games, and went to dig up Doom 64 for a reissue on Nintendo Switch, without specially adding new other content, the objective being simply to surf the nostalgia of certain players for FPS well retro.
Finally, we will return to Pokémon Sword and Shield and Animal Crossing in separate articles, while a slew of games made the end of this Nintendo live with announcements with the shovel. Tetris 99 first, gets free and paid DLC, but what surprised the most, in the vein of retro, is the announcement of the arrival of twenty games of Super NES via the Nintendo catalog Switch Online. These games will be available on September 6, along with a Super NES controller, suitable for the Switch. Finally, the live ended with the porting of several games (like Jedi Knight 2 or The Witcher 3) and the announcement of other games to come, like NBA 2K20, Just Dance, Vampyr or The Outer Worlds. And the end of this Nintendo Direct was the announcement of a superb remaster of Xenobalde Chronicle. You can check out Nintendo Direct in full, with French subtitles, below:
With the new functionalities of the Nintendo Switch Lite, or rather the withdrawal of functionalities, certain games adapted to the Switch are henceforth less easy to use, if not totally unusable as it is. Here is a list of games for which you will sometimes have to do without the Switch Lite to play it:
Super Mario Party: The principle of Mario Party is the local game for several. But on Switch Lite, there is no Dock to stream it to your TV. As the game does not launch until it has detected that your Switch is in its Dock, it is unlikely that it will work perfectly on the Lite
1-2-Switch: The principle of the Nintendo Switch Lite is the absence of Joy-Con. However, the entire gameplay of 1-2-Switch is based on these controllers and their detection of movements and vibrations. Thus, as it stands, it will be difficult to play it with controllers attached. But you can still try it out by getting the controllers apart.
Arms: One of the games of the launch of the Switch, Arms is also entirely based on the motion detection of the Joy-Cons. If you can however do without this functionality and use the buttons, more classic, it does somewhat lose its charm to the game.
Just Dance: It’s not impossible, once again, to play Just Dance on Switch Lite, since you can buy other controllers apart. But the size of the screen greatly reduces its readability, since it was primarily designed to be broadcast on a TV.
Super Mario Maker 2: it is quite possible to have fun on Super Mario Maker 2 on Switch Lite by browsing the levels at your disposal. You keep the same controls, and there is no worry about gameplay. However, and the criticism was also made of the Switch, the creation of levels in portable mode is an absolute pain, and it is strongly advised to manufacture its levels once your Switch is broadcast on your TV.
The month of September seemed a little hollow for Nintendo so far, since there had been no announcement, but we understand now why. Indeed, the Nintendo Switch Lite is out of rumor and has been formalized for the September 20 in the classic version, available in three colors: yellow, gray and turquoise. A collector version is already announced for the release of Pokémon Sword & Shield, the November 8, a week before the game’s release.
For now, the price of the Nintendo Switch Lite has only been announced in dollars. As a reminder, the Nintendo Switch costs $ 299, and therefore € 299 in France. The Nintendo Switch Lite has so far been announced at a lower price, of course, or $ 199, so we can estimate a price of € 199 in France. A much more affordable price therefore, thus widening the clientele of the Japanese firm, and allowing it to diversify its range of console, while remaining in the perspective of creating a single game, compatible with its entire range.
The main difference between the two consoles is how they are used. The classic Nintendo Switch lets you play on your television, in portable mode to play with others, as well as in portable mode to play alone. For the Switch Lite, you only have access to the last option. The main reason for this difference is the fact that the Switch Lite does not have the Joy-Con of the Switch, and that the buttons are directly integrated into the object. No dock either, since it is impossible to broadcast your screen on your television.
With respect to dimensions, the Switch Lite is much smaller, with 7.6 centimeters high and 20.3 long, compared to 10.1 high and 22.8 long for the classic Switch. It is therefore much easier to transport it, especially since the Switch Lite weighs only 276 grams against 400g for the classic Switch. Finally, the battery life has been increased respectably, since we gain no less than half an hour of activity with the Switch Lite, which can thus go, depending on use, between 3 and 7 hours of play.
Nintendo Switch will have an exclusive case
Formalized a few months ago, the Nintendo Switch Lite will be the 100% portable version of the hybrid console. A little less powerful than its big sister, a little smaller and deprived of Joy-con, the Switch Lite will however have an official case. Announced in Japan, the case brings us back a bit to a nostalgic past by reminding us of the Nintendo DS Lite and its very useful protective cases. This protective case is scheduled for November 1, 2019 at a price of 3758 Yen in Japan, but is still not announced in Europe. Perhaps it will be endemic to the Asian archipelago, in which case it would have to be ordered directly there, which will push up the bill a little.
Nintendo is working on a data transfer system
If you want to get the Switch Lite when you already own the Switch, and you are afraid of having to start all your games again, rest assured. Nintendo is currently working on a way to transfer data from one medium to another. It is already possible to perform data recovery on several Switch at the same time, but this new technology should allow you to transfer your data to any Nintendo support. This is timely with the announcement of the Switch Lite, and increasingly validates the possibility of a full range around the Switch.
A Nintendo Switch with more battery
Barely a week after the reveal of the Switch Lite, Nintendo is back with a Switch with slightly modified components. This new model, called HAC-001 (-01) would bring about 2 hours of additional battery life, bringing it to a lifespan between 4.5 and 9 hours instead of the current performance of 2.5 to 6.5 hours. The official Nintendo website has not officially detailed how the Japanese firm managed to increase this battery life, but it has been known for some time that Nintendo is planning something with hardware improvements. The model will be available at standard Nintendo Switch price and has normally replaced the original model on your shelves.
The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 and is still as much powered two years after its release. Nintendo takes great care of its console and continues to pamper it by bringing it a plethora of games and exclusives. The E3 2019 has served its purpose well for the Switch by bringing a colossal amount of games, ported to Switch thanks to the versatility of the console. The main expectations of 2019 in terms of exclusives are: Super Mario maker 2, Fire Emblem Three Houses, the remake of Link’s Awakening and the new Pokemon RPG: Sword and Shield. A few other announcements have been made for 2020 and the future of the console, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizon scheduled for March 20, or a start of development for The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2.
The official Nintendo website offers you to get the Switch for around € 300, regardless of the color of the joy-con you choose. This is the price you will be offered by the vast majority of French resellers like Fnac or Boulanger where the console is on sale for € 299. Amazon offers you to get the switch a little cheaper at around € 292. For even cheaper, you can turn to the occasion, where prices can vary from 200 to 270 €, sometimes even 300 € but with one or more games provided.
Many rumors have been circulating since the end of 2018 on the possible existence of a Switch Pro. With the release of the Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo wanted to clarify that there will be no other console to be released this year. This obviously means that the improved version of the Switch, the “Switch Pro” as it is currently called, would be released in 2020 at the earliest. “The Nintendo Switch Lite will be the only new Switch console this year, since Mr. Bowser said the Switch would not improve anytime soon,” said CNET. Anyway, rumors from the Wall Street Journal report a screen reworked to offer better quality and better resolution (1080p). It remains to be seen whether all the components will be improved or if there will be only a few improvements. However, if hardware improvements are to be expected, it is possible that the Switch will then lose mobility and become (almost) a full-fledged home console.
The Nintendo Switch is selling particularly well, Nintendo has not announced any price drop on its console at all. In order to get it cheaper, you will have to turn to bundle offers instead. A bundle is the grouping of two products to lower their prices a little. It is not uncommon for large games of a console or its exclusives to be entitled to a bundle, which also brings a small bonus, and ultimately allows to get the console and the game cheaper than if you buy separately. If most of the games mentioned at the beginning of this article will be entitled to their bundle, sometimes with an original Switch, a number of bundles are already available. As a reminder, the price of a single console is € 299.
Pack Nintendo Switch Pikachu & Evee Edition + Pokémon Let’s go Pikachu (or Pokémon Let’s go Eevee) + Poké Ball plus. This Bundle contains a game, a personalized console and an accessory, all for € 349.99.
Nintendo Switch + The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild pack. The opportunity to play the best game of this console for 344.48 €.
Pack Switch + Mario and the Rabbids, Rayman, Just Dance 2019. 3 games and the console for only 365.58 €.
On the occasion side, it is possible to find consoles, only from 200 €.
PACTE LAW – As of October 1, new retirement savings products will be able to be marketed in France, thanks to the Pacte law. We will explain everything to you.
[Mis à jour le 30 septembre 2019 à 9h10] Retirement savings are changing with the Pacte law. To simplify the complex retirement savings landscape, the executive launched the creation of the Retirement Savings Plan, also called PER. The marketing of the three products must start from Tuesday 1st October 2019. In detail, it is planned to launch an individual retirement savings product, simply called Retirement Savings Plan, as well as two group products. If you already have a retirement savings plan, don’t panic. Old devices should not disappear before 1st October 2020. Find in this article all the information on these new retirement savings products and the devices that should change with the Pacte law.
To make retirement savings products more attractive, the government has decided to simplify the landscape, by creating three products under the Pacte law. The first is an individual retirement savings product: the Individual Retirement Savings Plan (PERI). It must replace the PERP (Popular retirement savings plan) and the “Madelin” scheme, reserved for self-employed workers. Contracts may be opened in the form of insurance or title account contracts. The Covenant Law also provided for the creation of two collective retirement savings products, the collective PER (PEREC) and the compulsory PER (PERO), to replace the Perco (Savings plan for collective retirement) and ex-article 83. One of them will be open to all employees and the other will be reserved for certain categories of employees only.
As recalled Income, each product will be divided into three compartments, depending on the nature of the payments: voluntary payments made by the saver, payments from employee savings (profit-sharing, participation, etc.) and compulsory payments by the employee or the employer. Depending on the nature of the payments made, the exit terms and taxation will change. Find all the information on the PER in our article.
Today, only 16% of employees benefit from a system employee savings within their company. The Covenant Law provides for a easing of taxation on profit-sharing. The social package, which corresponds to the taxes paid by the employer when it distributes profit-sharing to its employees, has been abolished since January 1, 2019 for companies with less than 250 employees. For companies with less than 50 employees, the social security rate has been abolished on all payroll savings payments (profit-sharing, participation and employer contributions) The State also wishes to encourage the implementation PERCO’s place in companies by removing the prerequisite for them to have a company savings plan (PEE).
Life insurance is a very popular investment for French people. But the majority of savers place their savings in euro funds. The government wants to direct savers to Eurogrowth funds, a product launched in 2014 and which has had little success. These funds are not available at all times, unlike life insurance. It offers a capital guarantee only at maturity and also contains a share invested in shares. The financial product should be simplified. Objective: bring resources to companies. The government has announced an incentive to transfer savings from life insurance to retirement savings. As previously stated, any redemption of a life insurance contract of more than eight years will make it possible to obtain a tax allowance, if the sums are reinvested in a retirement savings plan and the redemption occurs at least five years before retirement. This device is in place until 1st January 2023.
American Airlines says it is investigating a claim by singer Aubrey O’Day that one of her flight attendants spun her shirt in front of the rest of the plane before allowing her to fly.
“I never flew and the steward treated me like a small boy punished in the entire flight timeout,” tweeted singer Danity Kane, who says that a flight attendant made her “undress in front of the entire plane because he didn’t like my shirt and made me flip to fly. ” He called the assistant and asked for his dismissal.
O’Day continued, “I was SHOCKED,” adding that he had to undress on his bra in front of the other passengers on the plane. “The girl next to me raised the blanket because she was feeling sick.”
In a declaration a USE TODAYAmerican spokesman Whitney Zastrow said the airline “is reviewing the situation and has contacted Ms. O’Day for more information.”
After the airline replied to his tweets asking for more details, O’Day replied: “I gave you his name. I literally have no interest in further managing your airline. I am so offended and disturbed. I wish I had taken @ JetBlue. “
It is not clear whether he is still in contact with the airline and participating in its investigations.

O’Day, 35, did not publicly elaborate on which flight the alleged accident occurred or what of his shirt was offensive to the flight attendant.
A Twitter user claimed that the singer’s shirt had naked bodies and was “extremely vulgar” and another contested O’Day’s account of the events, tweeting “He’s lying! There are a lot of us who were on the plane they can guarantee for your fantastic crew. ”

Peter Bart: Bob Chapek, Bob Iger’s Disney successor, faces immediate stress tests
Iger said he explored a 2020 race, but retired when his Disney mandate was extended after the 21st century deal with Fox.
He also spoke of the decision to end Roseanne Barr’s tenure with his show in 2018 after a tweet that mocked Barack Obama’s former adviser, Valerie Jarrett.
Iger said he didn’t think “there was any circumstance that would make it right”.
“It took about five minutes to know what we had to do,” he said. “He seemed completely insensitive, completely disrespectful. It was very clear. The decision was easy to make. What he had done was very, very clear. I didn’t believe that any context could make it better or acceptable or that it would allow us to forgive her. So we did it. And you also know, in today’s world, if there is a decision to be made by you, take it, because otherwise the world will do it for you, and this is never good. “

Stormy Daniels, the pornographic actress who claimed to have had an affair with Donald J. Trump before becoming president, reached a $ 450,000 deal on Friday with the city of Columbus, Ohio, after suing for the his arrest in a strip club in July 2018.
The arrest made headlines across the country, raising concerns about whether politics was at stake and why it was a priority to send four deputy investigators to a strip club.
Within 24 hours, Ms. Daniels was charged with three crimes, rescued and released, and the charges were dropped. Columbus police later said the arrest had been a mistake.
Ms. Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, sued the city in January for $ 2 million, citing false arrests and false imprisonments in violation of her civil rights.
“I am really proud of how the City of Columbus has grown and taken responsibility,” he added, adding that he was “actively making changes and holding those officers accountable.”
Clark Brewster, lawyer for Ms. Daniels, said she was happy that the city “carried out an adequate investigation and criticized its people”.
“The case we filed for Stormy in connection with her illegal and wrongful arrest was based on the fact that she had been targeted not for what she did, but for what she was,” he added.
“And we found it very important that this woman fought not only for herself, but also for other people who were treated or could be treated that way in the future,” she said.
Meredith Tucker, a spokeswoman for the city’s prosecutor’s office, said: “During today’s mediation, all parties agreed that a $ 450,000 deal was fair, given the facts and circumstances.”
The deal is subject to approval by the Columbus city council, but there is no clear timetable for when the council will vote.
The 2018 episode started around 22:00 on July 11, when four deputy investigators were sent to Mermaid ladies club in northeastern Columbus to investigate allegations of “alleged prostitution and drug activity,” according to court documents.
The detectives stated in sworn statements that while dancing topless, Mrs. Daniels pressed the faces of the patrons into her chest and caressed the breasts of some women in the audience.
Ms. Daniels, who held a two-night concert at the club, performed similar acts on three officers and took one for the buttocks, according to the sworn statements. Ms. Daniels was arrested and charged with three counts of sexually illegal activities, an offense, according to the arrest report.
The chief of police at the time, Kim Jacobs, quickly acknowledged that “a mistake was made” and promised to review “the reasons behind the officers’ actions”.
An internal review later found that allegations that there had been a political motivation behind Ms. Daniels’ arrest were not “supported”, but the review determined that the arrest was improper.
The vice division of the Columbus Division of Police became known nationwide for the episode with Mrs. Daniels and later became the subject of a federal corruption investigation. In March, about two weeks after one of his detectives was indicted on charges unrelated to the Daniels case, the unit was turned off.
In the Friday afternoon sun, Ms. Daniels was followed by a melee of reporters as she left the court, saying she would “likely” have used the money to pay her legal bills.
Asked if she thought the arrest had been politically motivated, Ms. Daniels said, “Maybe personally for some of the people involved, but definitely not in the city of Columbus.”
She was also asked about her feelings towards other police officers.
“I support the police. I admire them, “he said.” But great power comes with great responsibility. “
“I hope you guys do the right thing for the future because there will be another Stormy Daniels,” he said.
He said he had spent his time working on a podcast, promoting his book and performing in a stand-up comedy.
“To do all this,” he told reporters, “you have to have a good sense of humor.”
Christine Hauser, Matt Stevens and Jason M. Bailey contributed to the report.
(KGTV) – A Delaware school is apologizing after Rosanne Barr’s infamous performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” recorded in San Diego was played before a recent high school football game.
The Seaford school district said Wednesday that they are not sure how the recording before the Tuesday evening football game at Seaford High School was reproduced, according to the Wilmington News Journal.
A letter from Superintendent David Perrington stated that pre-match proceedings would be improved and they are examining the recent dilemma.
Students and families were shocked when Barr’s national anthem version, recorded before a San Diego Padres game on July 25, 1990, rang on the intercom to inaugurate the game.
Perrington’s letter states that the district usually plays the national anthem before the games and will pay a district-approved version in the future.

The adult film star Stormy Daniels, who sued the city of Columbus, Ohio after being arrested in July 2018, will reportedly receive $ 450,000 in exchange for dropping all claims made in her complaint against the City, his attorney and his attorney Zach Klein both said on Friday. Daniels was arrested in a gentlemen’s club on charges of committing inappropriate contact with clients, who were quickly abandoned. She accused the officers of staging the arrest to protect President Trump, who claims to have had an affair with her over a decade ago. In the wake of Daniels’ arrest, the Columbus Police Department launched an investigation into the vice division, disciplined five officers and made radical changes. “That’s the only reason he agreed to settle the case for what he did,” his attorney, Chase Mallory told NBC News. “His main goal was to make sure people weren’t treated like he was going on.”
Porn star Stormy Daniels resolved her lawsuit against the city of Columbus, Ohio during her arrest in a strip club last year, officials said Friday.
Daniels will receive $ 450,000 and drop all claims made in his federal civil complaint against the city, according to his attorney, Chase Mallory, and a spokesman for city attorney Zach Klein.

Her lawyer said Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, could have reached an agreement for over $ 450,000, but was satisfied with the changes made by the Columbus police department following his arrest.
“That’s the only reason he agreed to settle the case for what he did,” Mallory told NBC News. “His main goal was to make sure people weren’t treated like he was moving forward.”
Mallory credited both the Columbus police chief, Thomas Quinlan, and the city prosecutor’s office, saying “They really did a great job of solving the problems here.”
The agreement has yet to be formally approved by the city council at the next meeting on 7 October.
“All parties agreed that a $ 450,000 deal was fair, given the facts and circumstances involved,” said Klein spokeswoman Meredith Tucker.
Police arrested Daniels on 11 July 2018 at the Sirens Gentlemen’s Club on charges of crime for inappropriately touching customers. The charges were quickly dropped.
Daniels’ lawsuit accused the police of organizing the arrest in an attempt to protect President Donald Trump. Daniels claims to have had an affair with Trump over a decade ago.

A is For hosted a charity reading of Paula Kamen Jane’s documentary film: Abortion and the Underground in Rattlestick on Tuesday 24 September 2019. The proceeds of the benefit will support the abortion screenplay competition recently announced by A is For.
Julie Kline directed a cast that included Amy Berryman, Jeff Biehl, Brooke Bloom, Monique Coleman, Ana Gasteyer, Charlotte Graham, Jenn Lyon, Kathy Najimy, Cynthia Nixon, Jackie Sanders, Chris Stack and Carmen Zilles.
Before abortion was legal in the United States, Chicago women knew who to ask for help. From 1969 to 1972, Jane, the legendary feminist abortion service, was the only safe alternative for 11,000 women of all backgrounds. The women who ran the service were mostly modest: college students, “hippie housewives” and anti-war activists. But they led extraordinary double lives, managing the most active underground abortion service in modern history.
Jane: Abortion and the Underground is based on original interviews with the women who ran and used this service and the men who supported it.
The production team included Lacey Erb (projection project), Kia Rogers (lighting project), Alexandra Valley (sound project) and Kat Norton (stage director).
The reading was followed by a round table discussion with Pascale Bernard (Vice President of Public Affairs planned for the parents of New York City), playwright and journalist Paula Kamen and reproductive rights historian Felicia Kornbluh (Professor of history and gender, sexuality and studies on women, University of Vermont) and women who suffered clandestine abortions related to or connected to Jane in the late 1960s: the activist Sunny Chapman and Jackie.
