The French handball team inherited this Monday during the draw made in Vienna (Austria) of North Macedonia in the play-offs to qualify for the World Cup-2021 in Egypt (January 14 to 31). After the fiasco of Euro-2020, the Blues, eliminated in the 1st round, will have to go through a round-trip confrontation to qualify for the next Handball World Cup, of which they have not missed any edition since 1990. The French team, which has risen on the podium of the last three world championships, will play the first leg in North Macedonia between June 5 and 7 (the precise date remains to be determined) before returning to France between 9 and June 11. The top three in the European championship directly validated their ticket for the 2021 World Cup, the first to 32 teams, but the Blues were only ranked 14th after defeats against Portugal and Norway. A rout that cost the former coach Didier Dinart replaced by Guillaume Gille.
