JAKARTA, iNews.id – Districts Buleleng, Bali recorded as districts / cities with cases of dengue fever (DBD) highest in Indonesia. Three other areas in Bali, namely Badung, Denpasar and Gianyar, are also included in the top 10 regions with the highest DHF cases.
“In this regency, the highest city is in Bali,” said the Director of Prevention and Control of Vector-borne and Zoonotic Diseases. Ministry of Health (Kemkes), Didik Budijanto in a webinar in Jakarta, Tuesday (15/9/2020).
He said, based on data from the Ministry of Health until September 2020, the total number of dengue cases in Indonesia reached 84,734 cases. Buleleng occupies the top position with 2,677 cases, followed by Bandung, West Java with 2,138 cases, and Badung with 2,138 cases. According to him, there are several risk factors that cause dengue, including viruses and environmental conditions.
“If we look at the occurrence of dengue there are several causes, the first is the dengue virus itself, which is included in the arthropod borne virus. This is what we must anticipate. Then also from mosquitoes, so mosquitoes from the genus of viruses are quite small, 55 mm in size, “he said.
In addition, from the side of the Aedes aegypti mosquito that carries the dengue virus. As well as environmental factors that affect the life cycle of this Aedes aegypti mosquito.
“Then from the host or the human, how is the circulation, how is the life cycle of the host host when an infection occurs in someone. And related to this are environmental risk factors. Because a lot of rain is fed in our area, “he said.
Didik said the Aedes aegypti mosquito population that causes DHF increases during the rainy season. This needs to be the attention of the community in order to clean the environment
“The DHF life cycle occurs because of rain. So during the rainy season there is a high case, but during the dry season the mosquito population is low. But once it rains again the population increases again. Now this is because our environment has the potential to become a nest for laying eggs to become mosquito larvae, “he said.
According to him, the efforts that can be made to prevent this dengue case are mainly through the activities of Eradicating Mosquito Nests (PSN) and 3M Plus. The eradication effort is considered to be optimal, especially since many people have started working from home because of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).
“Efforts to be able to control when the season changes from dry to rainy. This is what needs to be anticipated with PSN and 3M Plus activities, this is what we can do, “said Didik.
