An Indian man in his seventies, presumed dead after a long illness, suddenly woke up 20 hours after being placed in a mortuary freezer.
It’s a barely believable story being told to us by the British media The Independent. And Inde, 74-year-old man presumed dead after a long illness was placed in a mortuary freezer by his relatives, pending his funeral. But 20 hours later, a big surprise awaited the family from the state of Tamil Nadu: the man, Balasubramanian Kumar, suddenly woke up in his “glass coffin”, even starting to move and talk.
“Look, he’s alive”
The scene, filmed during the passage of employees of the freezer company to the family home, was uploaded to Youtube by the local channel New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV). You can discover it below (be careful, pictures may shock) :
“Look, he’s alive”, alerts one of the employees to the family address, when he realizes that the man is opening his eyes. And when all these little people realized that Balasubramanian Kumar was still breathing, help was immediately called. The man will have spent a total of 20 hours in this glass freezer, according to local media.
An open investigation into the family
But then, why was the septuagenarian declared dead in haste, without any medical advice? This is the question to be answered by the police, who have opened an investigation into the family of the near-deceased for “careless driving endangering human life” and “act endangering the safety of a person”. Once out of the freezer, Balasubramanian Kumar was taken to the local hospital in the city of Salem, where he is still under treatment.
This is surprisingly not the first time that such a return from the dead has occurred in recent months. In July, a Chinese presumed dead returned home, as if nothing had happened, two months after his funeral. More recently, in August, a 20-year-old American woman presumed to have died awake against all odds in the funeral home, as she was about to be embalmed.
