LONDON (Reuters) – Police in the British city of Windsor, which will see the wedding of Prince Harry and American actress Megan Markell next month, said they had begun the largest security operation in their history to ensure the passage of the event safely. Harry’s 33-year-old marriage to Markle, 36, takes place on May 19 at St. George’s Church in Windsor Castle, the residence of the prince, 30 km west of London. Windsor is expected to receive more than 100,000 visitors to celebrate the wedding. Police said they would set up roadblocks to prevent attacks, armed patrols and security measures such as those used at airports to prevent any security problems. Explosives-trained dogs searched the mailboxes, telephone booths and sewage pipes at the start of the operation. “This is a big operation for any police force, which is one of the biggest operations I have done,” said police coordinator Andy Turner. “Of course we want everything to go smoothly.”
