The fatal shooting took place shortly before 3 pm in the 3400 block of Croffut Place SE, in the Greenway neighborhood near Minnesota Avenue and south of East Capitol Street SE. Police responded to a call for shooting and found a man repeatedly shot. He died later in a hospital. Officials were not able to identify the victim. At around 20:45, two teenagers aged 17 and 19 were killed in block 2,900 Martin Luther King. Jr. Ave. SE, near Malcolm X Avenue, and on a busy shopping street, a gas station and a park. It is located near Congress Heights, about eight miles from where the afternoon shootings took place at Croffut Place. A police report revealed that one armed man had fired five to six shots at a group of miners, touching one at the back of the head and another at the chest.
