Adults from 50 to 59 will be next on the ‘list’ – El Financiero

The Federal Government will extend the application of the COVID-19 Booster Dose to Adults 50-59 Years, said President López Obrador.

In addition to immunizing adults aged 60 and over and medical and educational personnel, the government plans to adhere to this plan to the generation below the elderly.

“We are talking about ending 60 years and more, we are going to start reinforcing from 50 to 60,” said the federal president.

The Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer explained that the measure was proposed to complement the booster immunization plan.

“It has to be added to the vaccination of older adults, who also shortly, it will be able to extend from 50 to 59 years, one more decade to complement this”, He indicated.

The president reiterated that the country has enough vaccines to apply the booster doses contemplated by the National Vaccination Strategy.

“Now we have enough vaccines for reinforcements, in the case of older adults we have to continue vaccinating and those who are missing that do not stop getting vaccinated, here it is being announced that we are starting with the booster vaccine for teachers, health personnel and it is not half of the states is general ”, he commented.

He explained that the government has invested in 50 million doses of the COVAX mechanism, which contains a diversified portfolio of vaccines.

“We have paid vaccinations until July 2022. Everything that is required for the booster. Only with COVAX, there are 50 million doses that we already pay for. So that people have the peace of mind that whoever wants to be vaccinated, there is a vaccine. [Dimos]160 million dollars in advance, there is no problem of lack of vaccines, “he said.

Alcocer added that the vaccine recently approved by Cofepris, the Cuban Abdala and the Mexican Patria, could be used for booster inoculation.
