International flights would begin operating from next october, as indicated by the holders of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and from Ministry of Defence a few weeks ago.

Despite the fact that the Minister of Health, Pilar Mazzetti, ruled out that there is a fixed date, he did specify that they are evaluating alternatives according to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The protocols and probable travel destinations would be defined this month, but which would be?

The holder of the MTC, Carlos Estremadoyro, noted that for the moment they are thinking of restarting flights with United States, Mexico, Spain, Chile and Brazil in a first stage.

Both the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) and the Association of International Air Transport Companies (AETAI) indicate that flights could only be restarted to countries that already have their borders open.

The president of leaf, Carlos Canales, points out that in a second stage flights to destinations such as Bogotá and Buenos Aires could be reopened.

“And as soon as they remove the restriction in Europe, return a daily flight to Madrid, Paris and Amsterdam,” Canales said this week.

For his part, Ricardo Acosta, president of the Peruvian Association of Travel Agencies, considers that the State should already fully reopen the borders this September with a limited number of flights.
