1. Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA

One hundred and ten years after its foundation, the Alfa Romeo brand renews its legend, returning to its origins and recovering a vehicle known as one of the legends of motor racing, which marks a milestone in its history: the Giulia GTA. Inspired by the 1965 model, the “Great Tourism Alleggerita” Developed by Autodelta from the Giulia Sprint GT that accumulated sporting successes around the world, the new vehicle derives from the Giulia Quadrifoglio and is equipped with a more powerful version of the Alfa Romeo 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo engine, 540 hp.

The Giulia GTA is immediately recognized for its exclusive characterization not only aesthetic, but also functional in terms of performance: the new Alfa Romeo models are not an exercise in style, but high performance vehicles derived from a series model, the Giulia Quadrifoglio .

Alfa Romeo engineers have strived to improve aerodynamics and maneuverability, but above all to reduce weight: the same guidelines followed for the 1965 Giulia GTA. Active aerodynamics has been specifically designed to increase the aerodynamic load. These solutions contain technical knowledge that comes directly from Formula 1, thanks to the synergy with Sauber Engineering and the use of Sauber AeroKit. The same function is assigned to the side skirts, the specific rear wing and the active front splitter.

The Akrapovič titanium central exhaust system, integrated in the carbon fiber rear diffuser, is also new, as are the specific 20-inch single-wheel rims, which appear for the first time in a saloon. Maneuverability has been improved by widening the front and rear track widths in 50 mm and developing a new set of springs, dampers and bushings for suspension systems.

2. Audi A3 Sportback

The Audi A3 created the premium compact segment in 1996. The brand now presents the fourth generation of its successful, more sporty, digitized and fully connected model. The new Audi A3 Sportback includes many innovations from the upper segment, tanto in infotainment as in suspensions and in driving assistance systems.

Measure 4.34 meters in length and 1.82 meters wide without mirrors, so it exceeds its predecessor by more than three centimeters. The height of 1.43 meters and the battle of 2.64 meters do not undergo changes. Depending on the position of the rear seats, the boot capacity may vary between 380 and 1,200 liters, and the loading floor can be enabled at different heights. Optionally, Audi offers tailgate with electric drive, which can also be opened and closed by a gestural movement with the foot.

The new Audi A3 Sportback will launch in Europe with a range of three engines: a 1.5 TFSI with 110 kW (150 hp) and a 2.0 TDI with two power variants, 85 kW (116 hp) or 110 kW (150 hp). At the start of production all engines will be combined with front-wheel drive. The power is transmitted to the wheels through a Manual gearbox with six gears, or of S tronic seven-speed, with a new selector designed now as a compact lever that the driver can operate with sequential movements to control the basic functions of the automatic transmission. Shortly after the market launch, it was offered progressively including new versions, electrified propulsion systems and variants with quattro traction.

3. BMW i4

BMW has presented its new i4 electric prototype, which will mount a propeller with up to 530 horsepower and will begin to be produced in 2021 in Munich (Germany). The new i4 will be the group’s first fully electric model in the medium-sized premium segment, and will offer up to 600 kilometers of autonomy under the realistic WLTP measurement cycle.

During his presentation, the president of BMW, Oliver Zipse, has assured that the group will meet this year with the demanding emission targets of the European Union, aided by launches such as the new Electric Mini SE and the extension of the plug-in hybrid offer. Zipse has also ensured that until the end of the year the average emissions of its new vehicles will be reduced by around 20%.

“The BMW Concept i4 takes electrification to the core of the BMW brand. The design is dynamic, clean and elegant. In short, a perfect BMW that also generates zero emissions,” says the senior vice president of design for the German group, Adrian van Hooydonk.

Conceived as a large four-door coupe, it will be one of the first steps towards a new BMW brand identity. The exterior of the model features a closed kidney grill that becomes a “smart panel” that houses several sensors, since without a combustion engine cooling is not necessary.

4. Cupra Formentor

The Formentor has stopped being one of the great secrets of CUPRA, the sports car of SEAT that with this model starts a new stage, being the first car developed from scratch. It owes its name to the most beautiful and wild end of Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands.

This high-performance SUV Coupé combines the brand’s own DNA, with cutting-edge technologies, a dazzling and captivating exterior design, a cozy interior for the driver and passengers, and very advanced and high-performance mechanical options. The CUPRA Formentor is, therefore, a model that combines sophistication, innovation and an exceptional driving experience.

The new Jazz and 100% electric and the Honda e are the advance of the six electrified models that the Japanese brand plans to launch by 2022, and two of the samples with which it had planned to participate in the Hall. The third novelty is the “restiling” of the Honda Civic Type R.

9. Hyundai concept EV «Prophecy»

Hyundai has presented its visionary concept EV “Prophecy”, which clearly expresses the brand’s latest design philosophy, Sensuous Sportiness, extending the example that defined the era of the concept “EV” 45 last year, which already replaced complexity in favor of clean lines and minimalist structures.

The “Prophecy” has an iconic silhouette of perfect proportions that has been inspired by an aerodynamic design. Taking advantage of the greater wheelbase and the shorter projection, Hyundai designers have achieved the definitive automobile form, thanks to a new EV architecture defined by impeccable surfaces and pure volume, combined with functionality and aesthetic harmony.

“We have given life to another icon that sets a new standard for the electric vehicle segment, which also takes the vision of Hyundai design to even broader horizons,” he said. SangYup Lee, director of the Hyundai Global Design Center. «A part of that expansion is what we call” Optimistic Futurism “, a design concept embodied by ‘Prophecy’. With this concept, our goal is to forge an emotional connection between humans and cars ».

Its design is timeless, something that seeks the application of the Hyundai Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy. Its voluptuous side section is similar to that of a perfectly carved stone. It is cut by a line of a clean and simple curve that extends from the front to the back with a minimalist restriction. In addition, the dynamic and elegant line is similar to the stern of a ship created by the broad rear sides seems to push the shape forward even when it is stopped.

10. Lexus UX 300 e

The luxury firm of the Toyota group had announced its presence with the electric UX 300 e, in addition to the convertible LC500 and the Lexus LF-30 Concept.

Since the launch of the RX 400h in 2005, Lexus has been a pioneer in vehicle electrification technology, and has assumed a leading role in offering products with high performance but respectful of the environment. At the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, Lexus unveiled its global electrification strategy, called “Lexus Electrified,” which seeks to make a fundamental leap in terms of performance, driving touch and control and driving pleasure.

Specifically, the “Lexus Electrified” technology makes possible an integrated control of the transmission, steering, suspension and brakes, to realize the potential of the electric motor grown in hybrid vehicles. With this technology, we can control the traction force so that the vehicle adopts the ideal position for every situation on the road. Lexus intends to continue providing safer and more pleasant vehicles to drive.

As the first production model under the banner of “Lexus Electrified”, the UX 300e, fully electric, was developed to achieve excellent road performance. Lexus engineers did not modify the unmistakable design or utilitarian features of the UX crossover, and focused on taking advantage of the advantageous performance of electric vehicles. The high-power electric motor of the UX 300e provides a natural but energetic acceleration, and the high-capacity batteries, located just below the floor of the passenger compartment, give rise to a low center of gravity and exceptional autonomy for such a compact urban vehicle ( 400 km in the correlated NEDC cycle, which correspond to an autonomy forecast of more than 300 km in the WLTP cycle). In combination with the most modern connectivity technology, the UX 300e maximizes the advantages of electric vehicles while merging great features with high functionality. (Philosophy “AT A TIME”)

The UX 300e will be launched in Spain at the end of 2020.

The gasoline model is very efficient thanks to the recovery function and the possibility of activating the “glide” mode with the engine off.

12. Renault Mègane 2020, Twingo ZE and Morphoz

True to the genes of the brand, the MORPHOZ concept embodies, within Renault’s design strategy around the cycle of life, the “Family” petal. Now, this concept evokes more than an exploratory vision of mobility. Its design, details and interior presentation also foreshadow the new family of Renault electric models in the coming years.

MORPHOZ It is a vehicle as it adapts to all uses, both day-to-day trips on short journeys and those that require a greater range of action. A personal vehicle that is shared when one does not use it. A vehicle designed to integrate into varied ecosystems and promote exchange. An autonomous vehicle to drive and let yourself drive.

Renault has also presented the new Mègane 2020 virtually.

The main aesthetic change is inside, with a new driving position added with a new 9.3-inch screen for the multimedia system integrated in the dashboard, and another 10.2 for digital instrumentation. It is also provided with the Easy Link multimedia system, much more agile and intuitive. Other changes have to do with the disappearance of the GT Line finish, which is renamed, with an even more sporty approach, such as R. S. Line, to honor the radical R. S., which by the way, also updates its 1.8 engine of 300CV.

Renault’s third big novaded is the electric version of the Twingo. A model that we learned in depth days before the Geneva Motor Show2020, together with a small group of media, and that maintains the philosophy of the combustion version: contained dimensions, urban approach and good maneuverability thanks to its rear-wheel drive.

The Twingo shares a platform with the Smart EQ ForFour, for its electrification was taken for granted. However, it has important differences. The battery, developed jointly with LG Chem, water-cooled – for better energy efficiency – has more capacity: 22kWh versus 17.6.

Approves an autonomy of 180 kilometers, with an average consumption of 16.3 kW / kilometer. In an urban driving, the approval is increased up to 250 kilometers, enough, according to Renault, to travel daily to work with a single load during the week, since the average user of this type of vehicles travels 30 kilometers a day.

13. Seat Leon

The León range has always been a fundamental pillar for Seat and a reference for the segment, with more than 2.2 million units sold during the three generations of its history.

Now comes the fourth generation, which has just been revealed in Martorell, the nerve center of the firm in Spain, where the most iconic Seat models have come from and continue to develop. The new León is the last vehicle designed and developed at Martorell’s facilities, and its production will also take place in this factory for everyone.

The new Seat León brings with it a great evolution in design compared to its predecessor, with a new concept, both exterior and in the passenger compartment. On the outside it has softer lines, with a nose that reminds its SUV brothers Ateca and Tarraco, and that gives the car more character.

The aesthetic is reinforced for technological innovation in lighting, with lighting technology that includes surrounding ambient light, rear light that covers the entire width of the body, dynamic flashing lights, Full LED headlights and welcome lights.

The Leon will arrive with a wide range of highly advanced engines and versions of gasoline (TSI), Diesel (TDI), Compressed Natural Gas (TGI), micro hybrid or ‘Mild Hybrid’ (eTSI), and plug-in hybrid PHEV (eHybrid).

The offer of gasoline engines are direct injection units and turbochargers, that provide powers between 90 and 190 hp.

In diesel the new Leon has three 2-liter TDI options. Both body versions (5 doors and Sportstourer), are offered with manual transmission for 115 hp TDI engines, and with manual or DSG transmission, for the 150 hp TDI block of power The Sportstourer is also available with a 150 hp version associated with the DSG gearbox and the SEAT 4Drive all-wheel drive system.

All diesel engines feature a new double dose SCR catalytic reduction system, that is, that performs a double injection of AdBlue to significantly reduce NOx emissions compared to diesel engines of the previous generation of León.

Seat also opts for Compressed Natural Gas, a fuel that represents an important part of the brand’s objective to reduce its emissions. The new Leon has the 1.5 TGI engine, CNG and gasoline hybrid, offering 130 hp of power.

The vehicle integrates 3 CNG tanks with a total net capacity of 17.3 kg, which contributes to the new Seat León TGI a range of 440 km in natural gas mode. And if CNG tanks run out of fuel, andl engine changes automatically to run on gasoline until you reach the next CNG gas station. Once there, refueling is as simple as with any other vehicle in the range.

The new León also now includes the micro hybridization technology or ‘Mild-Hybrid’ (eTSI), which allows to reach even higher levels of efficiency, and have, like TGI engines, the DGT ECO label. Available with the 1.0 TSI 110 hp and 1.5 TSI 150 hp petrol engines, the new León eTSI combines 48 V micro hybridization technology with the combustion engine with a dual clutch transmission instead of the manual.

This technology uses a 48V starter generator and a 48V lithium ion battery, and allows the new León to circulate in neutral with the engine off in some driving scenarios, recover energy when braking, and support the motor with electric assistance, thus obtaining a plus in efficiency never seen in previous generations.

Not missing one plug-in hybrid variant: eHybrid. It combines a 1.4 TSI petrol engine with an electric motor, powered by a set of lithium-ion batteries of 13 kWh capacity. Thus the Leon eHybrid achieves a combined power of 204 hp, associated with a six-speed DSG transmission.
