Amazon is investing more money in German-language content for Prime Video

As is well known, Amazon not only has US in-house productions such as “The Boys” in its program on Prime Video, but also German-language originals – such as the now completed “Pastewka”. Now they want to further expand their investments in German-language films and series for Prime Video.

Among other things, new Amazon Originals for the fantasy book series “Der Greif” by Wolfgang Hohlbein, a Reeperbahn drama called “Luden” and a documentary about FC Bayern Munich were presented. In addition, a true crime series called “Gefesselt” (working title) is planned. There will be new seasons for “LOL: Last One Laughing”, “Binge Reloaded” and “Der Beischläfer”. Further projects are to be presented shortly.

There is also something new about the UEFA Champions League: Sebastian Hellmann (53) and Jonas Friedrich (41) have been confirmed as the first newcomers to the Prime Video team, which will host the UEFA Champions League live on Tuesdays from the 2021/22 season . Hellmann becomes a moderator, Friedrich comments on what is happening on the field. Prime Video shows 16 games per season, including playoffs, group stages and the knockout games excluding the finals.

“Uncensored – Bushido’s Truth”, a documentary series about the controversial artist with six episodes, will also start in 2021. I wouldn’t really have assumed that Bushido would give so much substance. But Amazon has still secured the rights to three bestsellers by the author Sebastian Fitzek. They want to knit three “high-end series” from it.

Unfortunately, there is nothing for me, but I have to admit that I am very focused on US, UK and Japanese film and series productions. At best, a Scandinavian production will find its way onto the screen with me. Does Amazon have something in store for you among the announcements?
