An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 occurred near the Solomon Islands :: Society :: RBC

In the Coral Sea, southeast of the Solomon Islands, an earthquake of 6.6 magnitude occurred. It is reported by the US Geological Survey.

The seismic event took place on May 12 at 22:41 UTC (1:41 Moscow time on May 13). The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 112 km, 173 kilometers from the city of Lata (Nendo Island) and about 50 kilometers from the island of Laperouse.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred off the eastern coast of Kamchatka

No information was received on the casualties and damage caused by the earthquake.

On May 11, the US Geological Survey reported a powerful earthquake of magnitude 5.8 off the coast of Japan.
