Australian state shuts down after sudden outbreak of infection

On Wednesday, a six-day shutdown was announced to address an outbreak of infection in the city of Adelaide at the root. The measure applies from midnight local time.

Schools, restaurants and factories are being asked to close, while residents across the state are being ordered to stay home after 22 cases of infection were discovered at a quarantine hotel.

– Time is crucial, and we must act quickly and decisively. We can not wait and see how wrong it can go, says Prime Minister Steven Marshall.

The outbreak in Adelaide comes after a time of very few covid-19 cases across Australia.
