Biathlon World Cup: German women win relay silver – biathlon

Hell of catching up!

The German biathletes won silver in the relay at the World Cup in Antholz, Italy.

Karolin Horchler, Vanessa Hinz, Franziska Preuß and Denise Herrmann only had to give up Norway.

The German quartet made nine spare rounds and was 10.7 seconds behind the victorious defending champions after 4×6 kilometers. After the first change, they were still in 19th place!

“It was a great race, really crazy because the others missed so much. We rocked it, ”said Denise Herrmann, second in pursuit, after the women’s season’s first podium this season on the ARD. The 31-year-old praises her teammate Franziska Preuß. “The Franzi really brought the season back into business.” Because it didn’t look that good in between. Even record world champion Magdalena Neuner, the ARD expert, “was no longer quite as optimistic”.

Ukraine won bronze (+ 18.4 seconds). Hinz, Maren Hammerschmidt, Franziska Hildebrand and Laura Dahlmeier won the last World Cup title in 2017 in Hochfilzen. At this year’s World Cup it was the fourth medal for the German team.
