Washing dishes, tables or floors. Actor Pavel Zedníček is surprised. Together with his wife Hana Kousalová, they run a bistro that celebrated its tenth anniversary. On Life in the Stars, the couple talked about how they run a business.
Covid’s situation has had a detrimental effect on many businesses. At the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the company of Pavel Zedníček and his wife, the couple revealed how they coped with this problem. “We were closed, then we had a window, now God forbid it’s good, even if it’s not the way it used to be, but it’s slowly starting,” the couple outlined.
Hana Kousalová came up with the original idea of a bistro when she and Pavel were in America. “New Yorkers love bagels, and in Manhattan, Pavel had a friend we lived with, and there was a bagel house downstairs. There was room in that house, so we said why there couldn’t be a bagel house here,” Kousalová said.

“Without the knowledge of gastronomy, we got into it and surrounded ourselves with friends who helped us. And now it’s been ten years,” he adds. Hanka takes care of the operational activities, but Pavel is not afraid to take a broom and a rag in his hand. “I wash the dishes here, sweep or clean the tables. And I do whatever it takes, I can also clean or repair the toilet,” says Zedníček.
There are simply no cakes or bagels in this case without work. “The result is that our bagels are better than those in New York. Every time foreigners come here, they say they’re really good,” the couple boasts. Well-known guests such as singer Magda Malá or painter Kristian Kodet were also present at the anniversary celebration.
