Gernot Rohr has sliced. After giving a first list of 25 preselected players with 6 reservists, the coach of Nigeria has unveiled the list of 23 Super Eagles that will compete in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt (their first since the one won in 2013). John Obi Mikel is in the group. Two players come out however: the defender Semi Ajayi, and especially the striker Kelechi Iheanacho. The former Manchester City striker is coming off a very difficult season in Leicester City in 2018-2019, where his scoreless performances (a goal in 30 appearances in the Premier League, another goal in the League Cup) have led him more often to the substitute bench only in the field.
