Children’s play park TunFun has been declared bankrupt by the court. According to the company, all revenues have come to a standstill due to the corona crisis.
‘The government’s corona measures have killed TunFun. Due to these measures, TunFun had been closed since March. As a result, there was of course no more income from the company, while the costs continued all these months, ‘the company writes in a press release. Government support measures proved insufficient.
Due to the current lockdown, there is no perspective anymore, according to TunFun. ‘That’s why we had to throw in the towel and file for bankruptcy.’
Fire safety requirements
According to the company, the municipality was also not very cooperative to maintain the playground for the city. ‘In 2018 and 2019, TunFun invested another 700,000 euros in fire safety, following the very strict fire safety requirements set by the same municipality for the underground playground.’
The company is referring to the fact that in April 2018 the location on the Mr. Visserplein was closed by the city district. A risk analysis prepared by the fire service showed that TunFun was not fireproof. For example, insufficient maintenance was carried out on the electrical installations. Combustible material was also present.
