Cinema should live – with crowdfunding together against the crisis

Tobias Scholz runs the Capitol Lichtspiele cinema in Kornwestheim and works for a film distributor. As a result, he has numerous contacts in the scene. When he became aware of a crowdfunding campaign from Berlin for cinemas, he used these contacts in the Stuttgart region to set up a similar initiative here too. Because the cinemas are suffering a lot from the Corona crisis. The renewed lockdown is bothering everyone and the income from the summer, when it was allowed to open with little capacity, was too low to be able to work economically with it. For a week now, Scholz has been collecting donations via a crowdfunding site with six other independent cinema operators from the Stuttgart region.

Supporters can simply donate money or secure various vouchers there. You can find the promotion page here:

The following cinemas from the region with 26 screens will be there:

Capitol Lichtspiele (Kornwestheim), downtown cinemas Stuttgart, Atelier am Bollwerk and Delphi Arthaus Kino (Stuttgart), Kino Universum (Backnang), Kinothek (Stuttgart-Obertürkheim), Corso Cinema International (Stuttgart), Caligari and Luna (Ludwigsburg) and the Orfeo ( Fellbach).

The collected sum should then be divided by the number of screens and distributed accordingly.
