Co-boss of the SAP rival Oracle has died

Redwood Shores Oracle co-chief Mark Hurd died on Friday at the age of 62. This was confirmed by a company spokeswoman. Only last month, the US software company and SAP rival had announced that Hurd take a break for health reasons.

His responsibilities were Oracle's founder Larry Ellison and co-CEO Safra Catz temporarily take over. Hurd has been with Oracle since 2010, and in 2014 he was promoted to the chief post with Catz. Before that, he was chief executive officer at computer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard for five years.
