It's official: the Conforama group confirmed on Tuesday the restructuring plan of the company, qualified as "profound and necessary transformation", This will lead, on the one hand, to the elimination of 1,900 jobs in France, but also to the closure of 32 stores (as well as 10 stores of the Maison Dépôt brand) by 2020.
It should be noted that a central works council (CCE) was to be held this morning, to detail the whole of this project, but for lack of sufficient presence, it was canceled.
"The calendar and the social modalities of this project will be discussed with the representatives of the personnel within the framework of an information-consultation procedure which will open on July 11th", specifies the direction of Conforama.

The list of 32 stores affected by a closure was communicated. Among them are two Parisian stores (Paris-Etoile and Paris Pont-Neuf) and Vendenheim, near Strasbourg, which is currently the largest Conforama in Europe.

Created in 1967, Conforama, whose slogan "the country where life is cheaper" was a landmark, bought in 2011 by Steinhoff, after having belonged for ten years to the PPR group owned by businessman François Pinault.
