Cork and Shannon flights hit by Sahara sandstorm

A sandstorm is affecting flights between Ireland and the Canary Islands.

Today there are interruptions for scheduled arrivals in Cork and Shannon, with the latter affected this morning with a four-hour delay.

Strong winds have raised sands from the Sahara desert, which are now hitting the group of islands.

The Canary Islands are located 60 kilometers from the African coast.
