Corona virus makes rail travel cheaper

Cheap tickets can currently be booked on some routes until shortly before departure. A total of 500,000 tickets are available for the “super saver price” of EUR 12.90.

NNot only driving is becoming cheaper as a result of the spread of the corona virus with lower oil and fuel prices – train drivers are also currently cheaper in many cases than usual. After the reduction in VAT on train journeys in January, Deutsche Bahn saw 11 percent more travelers than in the previous year had registered, significant declines in passenger and booking numbers had been observed on many important routes in the past few days.

This is explained, among other things, by the cancellation of major events such as the ITB tourism trade fair in Berlin, but also by the travel restrictions mentioned in many large companies, which lead to a noticeable reduction in the number of business travelers on planes and trains.
