Sport in general and Asturian in particular are going through one of the worst crises that they remember due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has paralyzed the country’s activity in an unprecedented situation.Being one of the least relevant issues at the moment when the lives of many people are at stake, some sports entities have to face the situation like any other company. The cessation of activity, the possibility of the competition being extended or ending up being suspended are matters that have not yet been clarified in almost any competition.
For this reason, there are already several clubs that are considering the possibility of making a temporary employment regulation file (ERTE). Two of them, the Gijón Industrial and the Covadonga, have already done so. These are two entities that compete in the Asturian group of Third Division, soccer.
Another one that is very close to taking this measure is Liberbank Oviedo Basketball, which has not yet made the final decision, but is considering it.In this same situation is the Marino de Luanco, a team from the Second Division B of Spanish football, who is considering an ERTE. The Third Division Ceares is also in a similar situation.
The situation in the king of sports, however, is to be expected. The intention of the authorities is for the competitions to end. In this sense, the president of the Asturian Federation and vice president of Hispaniola, Maximino Martínez, stated this in an interview published in LA NUEVA ESPAÑA.Javier Tebas, president of the League, has also made clear his position of finishing the competition however.
