Coronavirus in Navarra | Salud opens the appointment for the third dose to the group of 40 to 49 years

Navarra opens from this Wednesday the citation for additional dose against COVID-19 to the group of people between 40 and 49 years old, who will progressively receive, over the next few days, an SMS message to formalize the appointment. The start of the administration of vaccines to this group is scheduled for next week, starting next Monday, January 10.

The latest report from the Institute of Public and Labor Health of Navarra, corresponding to the week of December 27, 2021 to January 2, 2022, confirms the importance of vaccination and the third dose to prevent the most serious forms of the disease , hospitalizations and deaths.

However, he insists on the need to complement vaccination with other preventive measures, as the face mask and physical interpersonal distance, to face the high incidence of COVID-19 in Navarra, which increased by 107% over the previous week, reaching 25,258 detected cases, which represents 3.8% of the Navarrese population.

Figures that have a decisive influence, he has indicated, the rapid expansion of the omicron variant, detected in 86% of cases in representative random samplings carried out in the last seven days by the Microbiology laboratory of the University Hospital of Navarra (THEIR).

According to the Public Health report, the incidence has been especially important among young people between 15 and 34 years old, with 6.2% of this group affected by infections. Among those aged 35 to 54 years, the affectation is 4.5%. And the lowest figure (1.6%) is that of the group of the elderly in those over 75 years of age, which is practically covered by the additional dose of the vaccine, since the figure has already been exceeded in those over 70 years of age. 95% of this group.

Regarding the administration of the additional doses in the rest of the groups prioritized up to now, in those from 60 to 69 the percentage of cited or vaccinated is 80%; and in the range from 50 to 59, the percentage of people who have received the third dose is 21%, in addition to another 73% already mentioned; among people who received the dose of Janssen the coverage percentage is 78%; and in the collective vaccinated with Astra Zeneca 79% have received the dose and 87% are cited. On the other hand, 33% of boys and girls aged 5 to 11 years have already been vaccinated with the first dose, and 17% more are cited.

According to the epidemiological report, last week there were 104 hospital admissions, an increase of 28% compared to the previous week. The number of admissions to the ICU was the same as the previous week (11) and there were two more deaths (13 versus 11 in the previous week).

Although the increase in admissions is not in the same proportion as the incidence, its high figures mean that the hospital occupancy data has increased to reach 204 patients today. According to data from Ministry of Health, Navarra is at the head of the autonomous communities in incidence at 14 days, with 5,977.44 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while in the hospital occupancy rate per 100,000 people it is in eleventh place, and in the occupancy rate of UCI, in the fourteenth, in both cases, below the state average.
