It is not known whether a protective immunity induced by neutralizing antibodies remains after the disease and what dose of antibodies is necessary for it to occur. All the data collected so far, and the comparison with a close relative virus, Sars1 (responsible for the 2003 coronavirus epidemic, similar to the Mers virus, 2014 epidemic in the Arab countries) suggest that at least for a few months, if not years, whoever heals permanently does not risk becoming infected again.
