Covid-19: at school, children in contact cases will be able to return with a certificate of honor

CORONAVIRUS – Two weeks after the start of the school year, these clarifications are welcome for many parents. While dozens of classes are closed, some families find themselves destitute when their child is identified as a contact case or has symptoms that may resemble those of the novel coronavirus. This last criterion consisting of a real puzzle while Colds are commonplace in playgrounds.

All of these factors have also forced parents to request a doctor’s appointment to obtain a medical certificate requested by the school, and which at the same time led to an overflow of general practitioner waiting rooms.

This Tuesday, September 15, as confirmed BFMTV and Franceinfo, the public authorities clarified the new health protocol after several doctors raised the tone. Concretely, a child will be able to return to class with a simple certificate from his parents.

If there has been contact, they will have to certify on their honor that the child has indeed performed a PCR test within seven days and that it has returned negative. The family will not have to show proof of this test.

In the event that a child has presented symptoms resembling those of Covid-19, parents will have to certify on their honor that a doctor has ruled out such a diagnosis during a visit. However, it will not be necessary to present a medical certificate.

As a reminder of this framework, the Ministry of National Education follows the requests of the Order of Physicians. In a press release published last Friday, he recalled that the protocol does not provide for a medical certificate: “the Ministry of National Education therefore does not ask parents to present a medical certificate of non-contraindication and such a request from establishments are not based on any legislative or regulatory obligation ”.
