Covid-19. Portugal with 567 deaths and 17,448 confirmed cases – O Jornal Económico

Portugal has a total of 17,448 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 514 more than the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health released this Tuesday, April 14. The number of fatalities from the new coronavirus in the country has increased to 567, corresponding to an additional 32 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The epidemiological bulletin released this morning indicates that, to date, 142,514 suspected cases have been recorded and 2,474 people are still awaiting the results of Covid-19 laboratory tests. There are currently 122,592 unconfirmed cases after the analyzes, and 23,265 are under surveillance by health authorities.

DGS reveals that there are currently 10,302 cases registered in the North, 2,549 in the Center, 3,994 in Lisbon, 289 in the Algarve, 100 cases in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 59 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and 155 cases in the Alentejo.

Of the total of 567 deaths, 321 were in the north, 131 in the center, 102 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley and nine in the Algarve and four in the Azores. To date, there are still no deaths in Alentejo and Madeira.

The DGS bulletin counts five female and two male fatalities between the ages of 40 and 49. There were 13 male victims and five female victims in the age group from 50 to 59, 39 victims between 60 and 69 male and 17 female, 71 male deaths and 45 female deaths between 70 and 79 162 years old and 162 men over 80 years old. To date, 208 women over the age of 80 have died from the new coronavirus.

There are 1,227 hospitalized patients, of which 218 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and the number of recovered cases has increased to 347.

Porto is the municipality with the most confirmed cases, totaling 959, followed by Lisbon with 946. Vila Nova de Gaia has 884, Matosinhos with 768 and Gondomar with 718. Braga with 647, Maia with 645, Valongo with 507, Ovar with 435 and Sintra with 404. The number of imported cases rose to a total of 707.

The age group with the most confirmed cases is 50-59 years old (1,211 men and 1,817 women), in a total of 3,028 following that of 40 to 49 years old (1,176 men and 1,829 women). There are 741 infected children and adolescents between 0 and 19 years of age. There are currently 7,172 men and 10,276 women infected with the new coronavirus.

In relation to symptoms, the most reported are cough (54%), fever (41%), muscle pain (28%), headache (26%), generalized weakness (23%) and breathing difficulties (16%).
