Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Coordinator of the Expert Team for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, revealed the current situation of the Wisma Atlet Covid-19 Emergency Hospital amid fears of a surge in cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
According to him, the capacity of the three towers of the Wisma Atlet RSDC has reached 5,939. Of that amount, those used until January 17, 2022 reached 2,534. That means there are still 3,404 vacancies or an occupancy rate of 42.68%.
“Regarding Omicron, a total of 404 people have been confirmed and 357 have recovered and 47 are still being treated,” said Wiku in a working meeting with Commission IX of the DPR RI.
According to him, the majority of Omicron’s Covid-19 patients came from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia and the United States (US). “So of the 2,535 patients, 47 were Omicron or 1.86%,” said Wiku.
Furthermore, he said that the proportion of Omicron Covid-19 cases from overseas travelers (PPLN) was quite high, at 89.2%.
Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PDI-P faction Charles Honoris asked whether thousands of Covid-19 patients at the Wisma Atlet Hospital had been tested by Omicron. Regarding this question, Wiku answered, “Yes.” Thus, all patients at the Wisma Atlet RSDC are still dominated by patients who have not contracted the Omicron Covid-19 virus.
