Two employees of the Québec-Lévis ferry received a positive diagnosis of COVID-19, which forced the interruption of service for a few hours on Thursday.
This was explained in a press release on Friday, the Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ), saying to disseminate this information for the sake of “transparency”.
She was informed at the end of the day, Thursday, leading to the suspension of crossings to allow the complete disinfection of the facilities by a specialized external firm.
They were able to resume a little after 10:30 p.m.
According to the STQ, all the crossing employees who had been in close contact with their contaminated colleagues were identified and placed in isolation.
“For the moment, no specific recommendations are made to customers who have used the ferry in the last few days. The two employees in question occupy positions which generally do not require close contact within two meters with the customers, ”indicated the STQ.
The organization adds that its ships are cleaned and disinfected “continuously in a rigorous way since the start of the pandemic”.
“The Public Health Department and the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale were quickly notified of the situation. They confirmed to the STQ that its reaction and the measures deployed were adequate, ”she reassured.
