BERLIN (Dow Jones) – In January 2022, around 3.3 million tons of crude steel were produced in Germany, according to the Steel Industry Association. According to the information, crude steel production fell by 1.4 percent compared to the same month last year. The pandemic and the sharp rise in energy costs had a slowing effect on the steel volume economy.
According to the association, the production of oxygen steel also fell by 1.4 percent to around 2.3 million tons, that of pig iron by 3.4 percent to around 2.1 million tons and that of hot-rolled steel products by 3.2 percent to just under 3.0 million tons. Electric steel saw a decline of 1.3 percent to around 0.9 million.
