Kylian Mbappe said he did not feel any pressure in facing one of the world’s best goalkeepers in the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday night.
Mbappe added that he hoped to score more goals after he scored twice in the net of famous German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in his side’s 3-2 victory over the German and European champions.
Mbappe, 22, scored an early goal, then Marquinhos strengthened the visitors’ balance with the second goal, before the Bavarian club responded with two goals signed by Eric Moting and Thomas Muller, thus achieving a draw.
And again Mbappe hit the net of Neuer, to give his team the lead again, and afflicted Bayern Munich, their first defeat in the Champions League in more than two years.
And the French international continued – after the victory – that he was happy to have the opportunity to test his abilities against Neuer.
He added, “He loves to play against the best players in the world and Manuel Neuer is one of the best goalkeepers throughout the history of the game .. I did not feel any pressure.”
The Parisian team lost 1-0 to the Bavarian team in the final of the tournament last year, but is now ahead of the title holder before the return match on April 13th at his home in the French capital.
Mbappe said after the match, “We played in the final against him (Neuer) and did not score any goal, but now I scored two goals … I will play again against him and I hope to score again.”
