The two clubs agreed on the transfer of the footballer from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern for a transfer fee worth 100 million euros, which is a new Bundesliga record.
The 30-year-old footballer still had one year left on his contract with Hotspur.
“I am very delighted now to be part of Bayern,” Kane said in a club statement.
“Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I have always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level. This club is characterized by its winning mentality,” added the footballer.
Bayern, who have won 11 Bundesliga titles in a row, needed a striker to replace the Polish Robert Lewandowski.
Kane scored 280 goals in 435 games for the English club. He is also England’s all-time leading goalscorer with 58 goals in 84 games.
Kane had one of his most prolific seasons in the Premier League last season, scoring 30 goals in 38 games.
In total, Kane played 320 matches in the English Premier League (three of them for Norwich City) and scored 213 goals, the second highest scorer of all time in the league. Only Alan Shearer, who once represented Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, has scored more goals (260).
nonetheless, he is still without any major trophies at club or national level.
Bayern exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals after losing to eventual winners Manchester City and won the Bundesliga thanks to better goal difference and a last-gasp defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
