Ex-skier Lindsey Vonn wins the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports 2019

The American ex-jeweler Lindsey Vonn, Olympic champion and double world gold, was honored this Wednesday with the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports 2019.

Vonn, retired this year from the professional competition after 19 seasons and with the women's record of 82 victories in the World Cup, has eight medals in World Championships (two golds, three silvers and three bronzes) and three medals in Olympic Games , one gold and two bronzes.

This award, which twenty nominations of eight nationalities opted for, is the fourth to fail the eight prizes awarded annually by the Princess of Asturias Foundation, after International Cooperation, awarded to Salman Khan and the Khan Academy, the one of the Arts, the British playwright Peter Brook, and the one of Communication and Humanities, to the Prado Museum.
