experts endorse COVID-19 Moderna vaccine for children

A panel of experts in the United States has endorsed a second option for a vaccine against COVID-19 for children ages 6 to 17 years.

Counselors at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) voted unanimously to recommend the Moderna vaccine as an option for school-age children and adolescents.

Usually the CDC adopts the panel’s recommendations and becomes government advice for doctors and patients in the country.

Last week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized vaccines in the following doses: full strength for children ages 12 to 17, and medium strength for people ages 6 to 11.

Doses should be applied one month apart.
