Extinction Rebellion, Miljø | Extinction Rebellion:

Environmental activists from all over the Nordic region launched new campaigns in Oslo on Wednesday. According to the organization, the police fine has exceeded NOK 1.5 million in total.

OSLO (Nettavisen): – The fines in total are now NOK 1.5 million, writes Extinction Rebellion Sverige on Twitter on Wednesday with reference to the actions in Oslo in recent days.

The group states that a total of 90 people were arrested during the actions on Monday and Tuesday.

Collects money

Each of the fines is 13,000 kroner, and Extinction Rebellion has been raising money on social media for a solidarity fund, NTB reported on Tuesday.

– We pay the fines ourselves. These are indeed large sums, but they are nothing compared to the economic costs that the climate crisis leads to, says Arvid Gudmundsson to Nettavisen and refers, among other things, to the costs after the flood disaster in Germany. Gudmundsson is a spokesman for Extinction Rebellion in Sweden and one of those participating in the action week in Oslo.

Gudmundsson also encourages those who support Extinction Rebellion to help pay the fines.

Get help from neighboring countries

The environmental activists in Extinction Rebellion Norway receive help from like-minded people in Sweden, Denmark and Finland in Oslo this week. On Wednesday, they acted in and outside the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in Teatergata. Here a group of activists went into the foyer and lined up in the windows. At the same time, a celebration was held outside with appeals.

The activists’ message to Minister of Agriculture and Food Olaug Bollestad (KrF) is that the government stops agriculture’s destruction of species diversity.

“Stop the destruction of nature” and “Die – we die”, are some of the slogans on the banners outside the ministry.

On Wednesday morning, protesters from the Extinction Rebellion marched in mourning for the extinction of species and nature. The march started in the Botanical Garden on Tøyen and went to the government quarter.

Actions all week

Extinction Rebellion has announced actions in Oslo all week. On Tuesday, a dozen shareholders were arrested and fined after they had blocked traffic at the intersection Fredriks gate / Karl Johans gate. The activists had chained themselves together at the intersection with plastic pipes.

Seven people who had demonstrated in the premises of the Ministry of Climate and Environment were also arrested, the police stated at 5 pm on Tuesday.

On Monday, Extinction Rebellion acted at the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in Akersgata 59 and in Majorstukrysset. In Majorstukrysset, a total of 29 people were arrested, while 19 people were arrested in Akersgata 59.
