Fenyx Rising was born from a glitch in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

The last major game Ubisoft has yet to release this year is Immortals: Fenyx Rising. This new IP set in Greek mythology will close a spectacular end of the year for the French company, which has delighted us with Watch Dogs Legion Y Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in the last months. Now, in little more than two weeks, we will receive this new and curious proposal, which we loved in our first contact.

Today, thanks to an interview published in GameInformer, we have known what was the genesis of this new game. What was the spark that ignited the development that ended up becoming the new IP of Ubisoft. And it all started with a glitch.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising had its origin in a mistake

As revealed in the interview by a representative of Ubisoft Quebec, developers of the game, everyone from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. As he claims, it was a glitch, a mistake at a certain point that made them think that it would be an interesting idea to make a game based on Greek mythology.

At one point we ran into an error where there was no human crew on board a ship. Instead, they were all Cyclops. We knew that’s wrong in a game like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but for us it was like a spark and we thought it would be interesting if we created something with a mythological theme in the background.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising is coming to Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and PC on December 3, 2020.
