Fewer and fewer students in religion lessons. They quit classes for various reasons

According to statistical data, religion is attended by the vast majority of children and adolescents. However, it cannot be denied that students quit these classes more often than in the past. The reasons vary, from religious beliefs to convenience: because you can get enough sleep or come home sooner.

Under current regulations, a student may attend religion or ethics, or choose none of these classes.

In Torun 19,023 students attended religion in the 2019/2020 school year, and 6,660 did not attend. In 2020/2021, 19,351 people participated in these classes, and 6,739 did not participate in them – lists Anna Kulbicka-Tondel, spokesman for the president of Toruń.

In Włocławek the number of children attending religion has decreased. In SP, 6774 students attended these lessons in the 2019/2020 school year, 6604 in 2020/2021, and 6420 in 2021/2022. A similar tendency is noticeable in secondary schools. In the 2019/2020 school year, 4176 students attended religion, in 2020/2021 – 4216, but in the current 2021/2022 – 4061.
