Flanders: two French people lose their lives in a road accident

DTwo young French people died overnight from Friday to Saturday in a serious road accident in Rekkem, a section of the city of Menin, the Kortrijk division of the West Flanders prosecutor’s office said on Saturday. The victims crashed into the pillar of a bridge at high speed.



The accident happened around 3:40 am on the N58 in Rekkem. The driver lost control of his vehicle in the complex of entrance and exit ramps of the E17 and ended his race against the pillar of a bridge. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, it was too late for the two occupants of the vehicle, who died on the spot as a result of the collision.

The prosecution has appointed a traffic expert to shed light on the exact circumstances of the accident. According to initial findings, the victims’ car was traveling too fast. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
