Dhe former astronaut Peggy Whitson, who spent 665 days in space on behalf of the American space agency (NASA), knows how to endure isolation even in corona times. “The most important thing is to realize that the group has a common goal. At Covid-19, this goal is to save lives through quarantine, ”the 60-year-old told CBS on Monday.
In the years 2002 to 2017, Whitson had completed three stays on the International Space Station (ISS). On her first assignment, Expedition 5, the PhD biochemist took part in an almost four and a half hour outdoor assignment. Whitson also advised viewers to exchange information during the quarantine. “Most people think they communicate properly with others,” said the retired astronaut. “But we have to make sure that what is hidden in our head really comes across.”
