The former coach of the France team died at the age of 87.
French football mourns one of its legends. Michel Hidalgo, the emblematic coach of the French team of the Platini generation, died on Thursday at the age of 87. Former midfielder of the Stade de Reims and Monaco, the Nordiste had taken the reins of the France team in 1976, until 1984. At his head, the Blues reached the semi-finals of the 1982 World Cup and won the first major title in their history, Euro 84, disputed in France.
