From March 22, passport applications are suspended

From March 22, it will not be possible to apply for a passport for several days.

We will not apply for a passport on March 22-27. Fortunately, it has nothing to do with the queues that have been lining up recently for a document (see: Bialystokers went for passports. Gigantic queues).

A few days break is related to the introduced changes:

“We would like to kindly inform you that due to the entry into force on March 27, 2022 of the new law on passport documents, the result of which is the change and implementation of a new IT system in all passport authorities in the country and abroad (embassies, consulates) that supports these matters , during the preparatory period on March 22-27, 2022, it will not be possible to apply for biometric passports (5 and 10 years). During this period, it will also not be possible to collect biometric passports “- we read on the website of the Republic of Poland .

During this time, however, in exceptional circumstances, it will be possible to obtain a temporary passport, e.g. in a situation where the document is stolen or lost, and its owner wants to return to his country.

After the introduction of the new system, citizens will benefit from an easier document application procedure. First of all, they will not have to fill in paper applications – they will be generated in the system by an official and then signed by the applicant on the device used for collecting the signature.

In addition, additional services will be launched, such as verification of the validity of the passport or checking what data is processed in the register. Everyone will also be able to get a message reminding that their passport will expire soon. In addition, there will be more options in the event of loss of your passport. It will be possible to report it not only in person, but also via e-puap or e-service (thanks to which the application will automatically generate the invalidation of a lost passport, thus preventing unauthorized use).

UPDATE

We were contacted by the spokeswoman of the Podlasie Voivode and informed that it was decided that despite the changes being implemented in the country – the passport office at ul. Bema will work all the time, unchanged.
