Google cancels corona virus I / O conference – IT Pro – News

Google’s biggest event of the year is canceled. The I / O conference that was to take place in May was canceled due to concerns about the new corona virus. Visitors who have bought a ticket will get their money back before 13 March.

Google says the decision to I / O not to continue this year made in accordance with the advice of health authorities including the WHO and the American CDC. The event was to take place from May 12 to 14 at the Shoreline Amphitheater near San Francisco.

Developers and other visitors who bought tickets for I / O 2020 will get their money back before March 13, says Google. Visitors who have registered for this year’s edition are invited to next year’s edition. They do not have to take part again in a draw to be able to get a ticket.

On the I / O site, Google reports that in the coming weeks it will look at ‘other ways to get in touch with the developer community’. Google’s annual I / O event is primarily focused on developers, but every year there is also a keynote in which Google announces new hardware and software.
