Munich / Dresden (dpa) – Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) is threatened verbally in social networks according to his own account. “People wrote to me that there was talk in Telegram groups whether my house should be set on fire and whether I should be hung on the mast in front of it,” said the politician of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” (Saturday). He knows that a lot of hatred is stoked on the net and in chat groups, “also against me, and I am very grateful for your feedback”.
Kretschmer criticized the fact that in the tense Corona situation politicians had to serve as “lightning rods”. “We live in a time that no longer knows any nuances. Everyone’s nerves are on edge,” he told the paper. “We are all defending ourselves against something, but there is only the invisible virus, it cannot be grasped.”
