Hardware retrofits for older diesel are not enough

The effect of hardware retrofits on older diesel vehicles is likely to be small, according to a new study. Experts at the Institute for the Automotive Industry expect that the level of nitrogen dioxide emissions (NO2) will only be reduced by 3.4 to 3.6 percent by the end of 2023 compared to 2018. In the so-called intensive cities, which are particularly heavily polluted with air pollutants, it would at least 6.4 to 7.1 percent, according to the study published on Tuesday.
