KOMPAS.com – From the records of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Pre-emptive Rights (HMETD) or commonly referred to as rights issue conducted by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BRI) is the largest fundraising in the history of the stock exchange.
From the corporate action, which was completed on Wednesday (22/9/2021), BRI managed to obtain funds of up to Rp 95.9 trillion.

Ajaib Sekuritas itself noted that more than 10,000 transactions for redeeming and selling BBRI Preemptive Rights were carried out by retail investors through the Ajaib application in just a few days.

“This also shows the increasing interest of the younger generation, especially the millennial generation and also Gen-Z in the investment world,” explained CEO Ajaib Anderson Sumarli in a release received by Kompas.com, Friday (24/9/2021).
Anderson said, business trends are changing. In the past, large companies needed to raise funds from large foreign banks or investors to maintain business continuity.
“Now, retail investors can also participate (invest) through rights issue,” he added.

Ajaib Sekuritas also sees the enthusiasm of users for the upcoming rights issue from digital bank issuers who want to increase their core capital.
The high number of BBRI rights issue transactions from retail investors also shows a positive sign of the growth of financial inclusion in Indonesia, especially among the younger generation.
As is known, millennial investors play a major role in driving the increase in retail domestic investors. This is in line with the growing number of investors in the Indonesian capital market.

According to data from the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI), the number of capital market investors reached 5.82 million people in July 2021, an increase of 93 percent compared to the end of 2020.
At Ajaib Sekuritas itself, the number of retail stock investors has reached more than 1 million investors in September 2021.
