The Y5 is the cheapest and least-equipped model of the three new smartphones. It comes with a MT6739 processor from Mediatek, which has four cores and a maximum clock speed of 1.5 GHz. The display is 5.45 inches tall and like all the monitors in the series has a format of 2: 1. The resolution is – as with the other devices too – at 1,440 x 720 pixels.
On the back of the Y5, an 8-megapixel camera is installed, the front camera has 5 megapixels. The battery has a nominal charge of 3,020 mAh and should be sufficient in UMTS mode for a talk time of 17 hours. The Y5 supports LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n, Bluetooth runs in version 4.2.
The Y6 comes with a 5.7 inch screen. The SoC uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425, which has four cores and a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz. The camera on the back has 13 megapixels, the front camera has only 5 megapixels as with the Y5.
The battery of the Y6 has a nominal charge of 3,000 mAh, which should be sufficient in UMTS mode for a talk time of 18 hours. The Y6 also supports LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n, here too Bluetooth runs in version 4.2.
Y7 comes with the largest display and best features
The top model of the Y series is the Y7. Here, the display is 5.99 inches tall, but the resolution is identical to that of other devices. Inside is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430, an eight-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz.
The camera on the back has a resolution of 13 megapixels, the front camera comes with 8 megapixels. The battery with a nominal charge of 3,000 mAh should be sufficient for a talk time of 16 hours in the UMTS network. Like the other models, the Y7 supports LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.2. The Y7 is the only one of the three new smartphones with a fingerprint sensor on the back.
All three smartphones have 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory. A slot for micro SD cards up to a size of 256 GB have also all models. New at Huawei is that the smartphones have three separate slots for the two SIM cards and a memory card – so users do not have to choose between dual SIM and a memory card.
Android Oreo on all devices
All three smartphones come with Android 8.0 and Huawei’s user interface Emotion UI on the market. The Y5 should be available from the beginning of June 2018 for 120 euros. The Y6 is already on the 2nd May in the trade and cost 150 euros. The Y7 should be available at the same time as the Y6 and cost 200 euros.
