Hurricane Hilary weakens as it advances towards Mexico – Diario La Página

Hurricane Hilary weakened this Saturday (08.19.2023) to category three and maintains its trajectory through the Pacific of Mexico, towards the Baja California peninsula, where it is expected to make landfall in some places and then enter California, United States, Update the National Meteorological Service (SMN). The meteorological phenomenon will cause “heavy” rains in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora and Sinaloa, as well as “very heavy” rains in Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nayarit and Zacatecas, according to the forecast for this Saturday. Likewise, there will be “strong” rainfall in Chihuahua and Durango, according to the Mexican SMN forecast.

Hilary could make landfall as a category 1 hurricane on Sunday in Baja California, according to the map projected by the SMN, while on Monday it would enter US territory as a tropical storm.
