The eternal problem of English football.
Forced to rely on young people during his first season at the head of Chelsea, Frank Lampard managed a convincing first lease despite the recruitment ban. Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James and many others took the opportunity to find a place in the London workforce. But after an XXL transfer window this summer, their places are no longer guaranteed.
Asked by Sky Sports about the place these young players would occupy this season, the former midfielder sent a clear message: “I really liked their contribution last season, but I never wanted Chelsea to become a training club. These stories go well for five minutes. Finishing fourth last year was a great achievement, but we are looking to see if we can improve as a club. ”
English youth will have to come back.
